    Join us at the AFT for a conversation, lunch and book signing with Kent Wong, the director of the UCLA Center for Labor Research and Education on Thursday, Nov. 19 from noon to 1:30 p.m. Wong will discuss the center’s latest book, Dreams Deported: Immigrant Youth and Families Resist Deportation, featuring stories of deportation and the courageous immigrant youth and families who have led the national campaign against deportations and successfully challenged the president of the United States to act.     The first panel from 12:00-2:00 pm will focus on "New Orleans After the Deluge: What Happens To A Community Dispossessed," taking up the broader questions of the post-Katrina economic and political changes in New Orleans and how they shaped developments in its public schools. The second panel from 2:15-4:00 will focus on "Public Education in New Orleans: What Is The State of New Orleans Schools After A Decade of Market Reforms?," and will address the specific question of the current state of the city’s public schools.
